How I understand my baby’s cues for potty at 8 months

I can’t be more than happy today. I was ignoring the signs and cues my baby girl was giving me for so long. Today she nailed it. To my utter surprise I do not have to do anything other than putting her on her seat in the toilet. Then she just did something beyond her age.

Yes my nearly 8 months old baby pooped in the toilet.

Let’s have short look in details now.  My girl doesn’t poo everyday.  So I’m always worried about her and really wait for her to go. Because when she’s constipated she gets very fussy. So I keep giving her food with fibres and fruits to keep her digestive system working good.

After she started her weaning the texture of her poop changed. It became harder. So everytime she strains and goes red I knew she was going to poo. Whenever I open her nappy to my surprise there was little or no poo in the nappy. And as soon as I open the nappy she start eliminating poo. Seriously,  she poops when I open her nappy.  I been doing this for a month now.  So I already had a potty that I brought for her where she peed earlier. I shared that experience as well in this post.

Been ignoring those signs and cues thinking this might be really early for her to potty in the toilet. I was happy for her just doing pee once a day. But again and again I see her in pain in strain and she was not doing it made me pick her and rush to the toilet. And within seconds she relieved herself. She was smiling and I was just saying.  ‘Good girl my girl just done poo poo’.

I never thought about proper potty training. I’m still not going to push her towards potty training until she starts walking . I will just catch the signs and then take her very slowly.

No more pain as gravity works better than nappy. No more rashes as she will be cleaned immediately.  And no more smelly poop. All we get is happy baby and happy mummy.

I encourage those mums who believe in picking the signs of elimination communication to go for it. Why not try it. If your baby is happy with it then it’s something that will help him later. If not then you can try later when your baby is ready.

I am a full time mum to 1 year old girl and expecting my second one this year. I did my masters in HRM from the University of East London and have worked for 3 years. Now everything went out of the window because the only thing I want to do is to be with my princess and give her all she needs and be there for her all the time. Spending my all time with her has really inspired me to write about my experiences and new things that I have learnt and still learning day by day. The only thing I can't get hold on to is the time. So I want to put my life and my ideas in words. I'm new to blogging and I would love to have feedback.
